Archaeologists believe Hemp has been used medicinally since 8000 BCE. At Rye’s CBD we focus on using Full Spectrum CBD in our topical products. This is because Full Spectrum has the highest benefit for you body and health needs through the enhancing properties provided through the “Entourage Effect”. This means that all the compounds found in the plant are still present in our topical products. It is unknown exactly how many compounds are present in the Hemp derived Full Spectrum CBD as research is still early. The evidence found thus far shows that there are more than 100 different varieties of phytocannabinoids present in Full Spectrum products. Those that have been identified all show benefits that enhance the body’s immune system and help balance the bodies regulatory systems.

Arnica
Records show that in the 16th century Arnica was common German folk lore for remedies. Arnica can be used as an antiseptic, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory. Helenalin acts to suppress the formation of inflammation-causing substances known as cytokines. The anti-coagulant, anti-inflammatory, and pain-reducing properties of Arnica are likely why it has remained to be as one of the most popular natural herbal applications for bruises, muscle strains and pain, and minor skin injuries and irritation.

Comfrey
Comfrey has been cultivated since about 400 BC as a healing herb. Comfrey is known for its ability to reduce pain, eliminate inflammation, boost the immune system, promote growth, and strengthen bones. It also helps heal skin, reduce the risk of cancer, and improve respiratory health.

Marjoram
In Ancient Greece, Marjoram was said to have been created by the Goddess of Love Aphrodite and was given to newlyweds as a symbol of good fortune. Greek women used an oil infusion with Marjoram on their heads, as a relaxant. Marjoram is an analgesic, antiseptic, antimicrobial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory. It may help to treat acne and soothe common inflammatory skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. The oil also has antifungal properties meaning it could help treat fungal conditions like athlete’s foot and jock itch.

Beeswax
Dating back between 23 and 79 AD to help with dysentery. Beeswax is a humectant. This means beeswax absorbs moisture from the air and locks in moisture. It also has antibacterial properties that help keep the surface of your skin clean. This protects your skin and promotes healing. The anti-inflammatory benefits help some suffers of topical allergies such as: rosacea. It contains amounts of Vitamin A known for improving skin condition. Vitamin A boosts skin cell production and helps the overall appearance of the surface. It helps to create a light protective barrier against environmental pollutants.

Shea Butter
Records show that Shea Butter use dates to Cleopatra’s Egypt. Shea Butter works for both dry and oily skin, protects the skin from UV rays and sunburns, and hydrates skin. It contains Vitamins A, E, and F. Vitamin A helps skin remain healthy, all the three vitamins synergistically work together to help stave off facial lines and wrinkles, and vitamin F soothes chapped, dry or rough skin while helping skin heal. By allowing the skin to breathe Shea Butter provides a great option for skin care needs.

Cocoa Butter
Used medicinally for thousands of years. Cocoa beans became known as Brown gold in 1502. Cocoa Butter protects the skin from damage causing premature skin aging, dull skin, dark patches, and rough texture. Soothing fine lines, smoothing skin texture, evening out skin tone and diminishing dark spots while boosting elasticity helping to reducing stretch marks. Cocoa Butter has anti-inflammatory properties. Polyphenols and flavonoids reduce inflammation and prevent damage to the skin. Also reduces sun damage but should not replace your SPF. If you happen to take sun damage it can help you recover.

Arrowroot Powder
Historical records show cultivation of Arrowroot over 7000 years ago. Arrowroot contains a plethora of vitamins and minerals, such as zinc, iron, potassium, and Vitamin B6. This helps to soften your skin by enabling it to absorb moisture. Arrowroot powder is also a natural sweat-absorbant and helps to eliminate toxins. It has been used to provide relief to skin irritations including rashes, acne and skin sores. Topical application of arrowroot powder has shown to improve one’s skin texture, reduce oiliness and bring a natural glow to one’s complexion due to its anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory qualities.

Rosemary Extract
Use of Rosemary dates back thousands of years. Rosemary Extract is good for all skin types. Providing calming benefits, hydration along with a strong ability to purify and restore balance to the skin. Antioxidant properties provide protection from environmental factors that might harm the skin. This prevents fine lines and wrinkles. Also capable of tightening the skin it can reverse age lines.

Coconut Oil
Roughly 4000 years of medicinal use. Coconut Oil provide moisturizing properties for your skin, reduces inflammation, promotes wound healing, has antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) dates back over 6000 years. EVOO moisturizes your skin, reduces signs of aging, fights oxidative stress, increases collagen, cleans your skin, lowers risk of acne, promotes wound healing, and has anti-inflammatory properties.

Geranium Essential Oil
Geranium oil dates back to the Egyptian times. Geranium Oil has been used in a vast range of applications including the promotion of a clear, smooth, radiant complexion, the balancing of hormones, the alleviation of anxiety and fatigue, and the improvement of moods.

Rosewood Essential Oil
Rosewood essential oil helps depression and is believed to arouse feelings of happiness and strength. Rosewood’s high level of alpha-pinene is responsible for its excellent antibacterial action. Also acts as a mild analgesic, antibacterial, antiseptic, insecticide and possible aphrodisiac.

Bergamot Essential Oil
Earliest recordings for medicinal use go back to 1714. Bergamot helps to ease stress and anxiety, balance your mood, and improve symptoms of depression. It is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic while improving your immune system. It has an ability to balance sebum levels to enhance your bodies ability to fight off environmental stressors.

Black Pepper Essential Oil
Medicinal uses go back over 4000 years. Black pepper oil has a warming effect that can soothe aching muscles. It also has anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties, both of which allow it to calm aches and pains and relax tense muscles throughout the body. It contains a high number of antioxidants, that prevents wrinkles and fine lines along with Vitamin C, which increases collagen production, thereby giving you tighter skin. Black pepper is rich in anti-bacterial properties, which works actively against many types of bacteria-born skin infections. Thanks to the antibiotic, and anti-inflammatory components present it may reduce the appearance of acne. The antioxidants present inhibit the free radicals responsible for acne.

Lavender
Lavender has been used medicinally for over 2500 years. Lavendar oil has long been associated with soothing effect for mood, stress, anxiety, and depression. Packed with antimicrobial, antifungal, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory properties Lavendar oil has been used for wrinkles, acne, bug bites, eczema and more. Has been known to help speed up recovery from burns, cuts, scrapes, wounds and with scarring.

Tea Tree
Medicinal use of Tea Tree goes back an unknown amount of time. Used by the Aboriginal people of Australia it was first documented by Captain James Cook in 1770. Tea Tree oil is packed with anti-inflammatories, antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. Shown to help the skin against itching, irritation, discomfort, infections, pain and fungal issues. So effective that during World War 2 it was part of the 1st aid packs given to soldiers.
